Westminster police detectives served a search warrant at a residence this week after neighbors filed multiple complaints about suspected drug sales, recovering methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin and arresting seven people on felony charges.
Detectives detained 23 people during the operation. When it was over, officers had seized 318 grams of methamphetamine, 52 grams of fentanyl powder, 87 fentanyl pills weighing approximately 35 grams, and 10 grams of heroin.
Seven of those detained were taken into custody on outstanding warrants and felony drug sales charges. The remaining 16 were released at the scene.
Neighbor complaints drove the investigation
According to Westminster Police, the search warrant came after multiple citizen complaints about suspected criminal activity at the address. Detectives investigated before seeking the warrant — a pattern the department has used to build stronger cases against suspected dealers before moving in.
It is not clear how long the location had been under scrutiny, but police described the complaints as coming from multiple residents in the area.
The drugs recovered
The mix of narcotics seized points to a distribution operation rather than personal use. Methamphetamine made up the largest share by weight. Fentanyl was present in two forms: loose powder and pressed pills.
The 87 fentanyl pills are worth noting. Pressed pills laced with illicit fentanyl have driven overdose deaths across California since 2020 — users often cannot tell them apart from legitimate pharmaceutical opioids. When 87 pills show up at one address, they are not there for personal use.
Heroin was also recovered, though in smaller quantities than the other drugs.
What comes next
The seven people arrested face felony charges for drug sales in addition to any outstanding warrant holds. Cases go through the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
Westminster Police did not release the names or ages of those arrested.
