Three women are in custody after Cypress police officers attempted a traffic stop on a Mercedes-Benz displaying stolen license plates near the Home Depot on Lincoln Avenue. When officers approached the vehicle, the driver initially pulled over before accelerating away.
The pursuit was brief. The Mercedes turned onto a dead-end road and crashed through a fence behind a nearby business, disabling the car.
Foot Chase and Fence Climb
As officers moved in, all three occupants bailed out and ran. Two attempted to scale a tall barbed-wire fence and were taken into custody quickly. The third suspect tried concealing herself under a nearby truck.
Officers called in the Huntington Beach Police Department helicopter, HB1, which located the third suspect. All three were arrested without further incident.
Charges and Booking
The Mercedes was confirmed stolen. All three women were booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, and resisting arrest.
The incident marked another multi-agency response involving Cypress officers and HBPD air support. In May, Cypress police arrested two juveniles following a multi-city chase that also drew an air unit.
