Orange County Fire Authority crews kept a serious fire from turning into a neighborhood-wide disaster early Saturday morning, stopping a blaze at a Westminster automotive repair shop before it could jump to surrounding businesses in an industrial strip center.

Engine 66 was the first unit on scene and found the auto shop with a significant fire burning inside. With multiple surrounding tenants in the same complex immediately at risk, crews launched a coordinated fire attack and requested a second alarm, bringing additional units to the scene.

Firefighters made quick work of the blaze, confining the damage to the shop of origin. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No specific address was immediately released by the fire authority.

The Orange County Fire Authority, which provides fire protection to Westminster under contract, credited the rapid coordinated response from multiple units for preventing what could have been a far more costly and widespread fire.
